Presentation

ATENEA is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) postdoctoral fellowship programme. The ATENEA programme will offer ten 30-month Postdoctoral Research (PRs) fellowships in the field of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE).

The programme will launch one open call during its 48 months, offering high-level, interdisciplinary and intersectoral training, both in core and advanced scientific topics and transferable skills. After the programme, the fellows will be well-versed, experienced researchers with highly attractive profiles for the academic and non-academic sectors, particularly for industry.

The ATENEA programme is designed to attract and support talented researchers. Through ATENEA, PRs will carry out cutting-edge, interdisciplinary research with the full support of IMDEA’s leading scientists and world-class research facilities.

ATENEA not only fosters outstanding research today, but also paves the way for future breakthroughs.

By building on IMDEA Materials’ successful track record in EU-funded research, ATENEA boosts the visibility and career opportunities of its researchers, empowering the next generation of scientific leaders.

Why apply?
A Truly International, Interdisciplinary, and Intersectoral Programme

International

IMDEA Materials Institute and the ATENEA programme offer a vibrant and diverse research environment, with staff from 28 nationalities and strong ties to international networks and collaborations. PR fellows will benefit from global mobility through secondments with 21 associated partners and contribute to the programme’s international dimension through their own cultural and professional backgrounds

Interdisciplinary

Research topics span key sectors—manufacturing, energy, transport, and health, and are designed to be interdisciplinary by nature. Fellows will work in a collaborative environment that encourages interaction across scientific disciplines, and with leading international research groups. A wide range of training activities will support both scientific and transferable skills development

Intersectorality

Fellows will engage in fundamental and applied research with real-world industrial impact, supported by secondments and training in collaboration with private companies.
